Cryptomeria japonica Serama is a selection of F.H.L. Moerings from the Netherlands. The plant was selected because of its very compact growth. Besides that, Serama produces a contorted fasciation on every branch, which does not always happen on 'Christata'. Cryptomeria japonica Serama is hardy and grows well in well-drained soil. After 3 years the plant is about 50-60 cm high. Because of its very compact habit Serama is very well suited for small gardens.
